Fresh Growth from Deep Roots

July 01, 2016

Originally started by two families in 1946, my dad, Tom Courtright, purchased Orchard Nursery & Florist from Jack Schneider and Stewart Wade on July 1, 1972. Today marks the 44th Anniversary of him owning and operating Orchard! Orchard is the definition of a local, family business, as we are lucky to employ a team of wonderfully knowledgeable people who are an extension of our family. Many of our staff members have been with the company for more than 15 years, and some over 30 years (there’s even one celebrating 42 years)! I officially joined the Orchard family in 2000, and love being a part of the team, as well as the Lamorinda community. What a charming community to be a part of!

My dad is always reminding me that the only true constant is change. At Orchard, we try to strike a balance between holding on to our beloved traditions and the things that we love about the nursery, while also embracing current trends and our ever-changing world.

Today we launched Orchard's new website and ā€˜Life is Beautiful’ blog. Since the mid-90s, our tagline has been ā€œBecause Life Should be Beautiful.ā€ Every day, we have the pleasure of helping our customers create and add beauty to their worlds. Whether by adding plants, flowers or dĆ©cor to their garden or home, or by helping them to find a gift for a special occasion, we consider it a privilege to help our customers. I hope that our new website and ā€˜Life is Beautiful’ blog will enhance our customers’ experience with Orchard, and I look forward to seeing you at the nursery this summer and beyond!

Sincerely,
Kathy Courtright Rondini
