Veggie Planting 101

WHEN CONTAINER PLANTING

For those planting in a container, we recommend either Pro Potting Soil or our Organic Raised Bed Mix.

WHEN PLANTING IN-GROUND

When planting in-ground, we always recommend amending your soil before planting just about everything. Our native soil is hard, compacted clay that's tough for roots and water to penetrate. If it's hard for you to dig, just imagine what your plants go through (literally!)

Our favorite amendment to use with veggies is Paydirt, now BUY 3 BAGS GET 1 FREE thru April 30th! Remember to mix amendments in half and half with your native soil when planting. We also recommend top dressing your soil through the season to give your plants a nutrient boost.

FERTILIZE

We also recommend picking up E.B. Stone Organics Tomato & Vegetable Food to keep your veggies producing all season long!

CAGE YOUR TOMATOES

And don't forget your tomato cage. Your 'maters look small now, but soon they'll be growing up through your cage and they'll be happy for the support.

PLANT A MARIGOLD

Planting a marigold in your veggie garden will not only give you instant color while you await the ripening of your tomatoes, it will also keep pests away and attract pollinators. Marigolds repel harmful insects including tomato hornworm, thrips, whiteflies, potato beetles, root-knot nematodes and cabbage worms while attracting ladybugs, butterflies and hoverflies.

Keep scrolling for the list of exactly what varieties arrived this week. We only received a small quantity of each variety so hurry in!

While in, don’t miss our veggie-adorned favorites in the gift shop…

TAKE NOTE — If you are looking for a particular veggie variety, our best and widest selection will be available once it warms up in mid-April. We will let you know each week what varieties have arrived.
